The former 'Coronation Street' actress - who recently suffered from bronchitis - took to Twitter to reveal she lost her taste and smell after a PCR test found she had COVID-19, but she was surprised to test negative on a lateral flow test.

She tweeted: "Just had covid. Nothing like the bronchitis I had recently which was most ill I’ve ever been. Lost taste & smell with both. At work 10 days ago. Was removed from set & they had me tested. LF & PCR taken at same time. LF was negative, PCR came back positive. Go figure. (sic)"

After her negative lateral flow and positive PCR, the 'Hollyoaks' star has slammed COVID testing as "ridiculous".

She wrote: "By the way I’m not negating the danger of Covid in some people. I just lost my dad to pneumonia. All horrible virus’. But the testing is ridiculous. And to me all proves how pointless covid passports are. (sic)"

Last month, Denise revealed she had left the house for the first time in three weeks after suffering from chronic bronchitis at the same time as she lost her dad Vin aged 84.

She wrote at the time: "Last night I left the house for the first time in nearly 3 weeks! Chronic bronchitis on top of losing dad has taken its toll. But the love of my family and friends has helped me through.

Last night I laughed and screamed so much I didn’t need the loo at the end!!!

If you want a really scary Halloween experience go to Journey to Hell @pleasure_beach. It’s brilliant.

I paid for tickets but just wanted to say how uplifting it was. (sic)"

And earlier today, Denise paid tribute to her late father on what would've been his 85th birthday.

She wrote: "Happy birthday to a really cool dad and Grandpa. You didn’t make it to 85 but you crammed more into 84 years than most people would in 184!!!

Miss you so much but something you said or did makes us smile every day. I’m so glad you know how much you were loved (sic)"
