The 40-year-old former singer is the latest to join the cast of the West End production to reprise his role of Billy Flynn, an unbeaten lawyer, who he originally played in 2008.

The former 'Hollyoaks' actor will take over from Spandau Ballet's Martin Kemp, who landed the role back in May, taking over from Hollywood actor Cuba Gooding Jr, 50.

Duncan wrote on Twitter: "Thrilled to be going back into my fav musical #chicago as billy. I defo look very different since this pic was taken when i first started 10 years ago!! Hope the suit still fits!!!! (sic)"

'Chicago' returned to London theatres earlier in March after six years away and prior to that it ran for 15 years in London, and became the West End's longest running revival.

'One Love' hitmaker Duncan will star in the popular musical alongside 'The X Factor' winner Alexandra Burke, 29, who recently joined the production to play the role of the notorious villain Roxie Hart, a women who murders her lover when she realises he lied to her about getting her into the big leagues of stardom.

The show also currently features Mazz Murray, 44, as Mama Morton, Josefina Gabrielle as Velma Kelly and Paul Rider as Amos Hart.

Duncan departed 'Hollyoaks' earlier this year after his alter-ego Ryan Knight was seemingly killed off, and the singer also starred in 'Legally Blonde: The Musical'.

Duncan will appear in 'Chicago' at the Phoenix Theatre from September 10.
