The 'This Morning' co-host stayed at home in his dressing gown while wife and co-presenter Ruth Langsford enjoyed a night out at the awards ceremony at London's The O2 on Tuesday night (23.01.18).

Eamonn, 58, shared a picture of Ruth, 57, kissing him goodbye on social media while she was dressed up in a red gown and sparkling earrings, and joked that she "better not speak to anyone too gorgeous".

Eamonn wrote: "One of us is off to The #NTA Showbiz Ceremony and the other is staying at home poorly, uncared for abandoned, coughing endlessly. Can u guess which of us is doing what? (sic)"

On Twitter, he jokingly captioned the same picture: "Don't worry darling you just stay at Home while I go partying at The #nta 's with all my #Strictly #LooseWomen and #ThisMorning friends. You'll be fine if u take your medicine (sic)."

In a video shared online, Ruth said: "Aww look, my little sickly husband. This will be the first time I've been to the National Television Awards on my own without you. You can't even speak can you?"

The pair agreed they would miss each other and Eamonn told his wife: "You better not speak to anyone too gorgeous. She's looking far to gorgeous. Do I look gorgeous?"

Ruth replied: "Not really."

Eamonn wished Ruth a good time at the awards, and later tweeted a picture of her from the red carpet, along with a photo of them together as a couple.

He quipped: "Of course my Lady in Red looks well at The #NTAs tonight ..... but picture two is somehow much more attractive isn't it ? Plus she better be home by Midnight or the front door is getting locked."

Ruth and 'This Morning' presenter Alison Hammond shared a video from the ceremony after the programme won the Best Daytime Show prize.

Ruth said: "We are so thrilled, we're not so thrilled that Eamonn's not here."

Alison joked: "I am, 'cause I've been hanging out with you, it's been the best day ever ... but we are missing him really."

Eamonn and Ruth have been together for 22 years and married in 2010.

They have co-presented 'This Morning' together on Fridays and during the school holidays since 2006.

Eamonn pulled out of hosting 'This Morning' last week (19.01.18) due to his illness, and missed his 'Drive Time' show on talkRADIO.
