The TV presenter took to his Instagram page to share a picture of his face covered in red marks and joked that it looked like he had been in a fight.

He wrote: "I know I look as though I've been in a scrap but honestly I haven't. It's worse than that - it's Shingles (sic)."

Eamonn was forced to pull out of hosting 'This Morning' earlier this week and fans were shocked when he revealed the reason on Instagram.

Shingles is a version of the chickenpox virus that hits adults who have already had chickenpox.

Meanwhile, Eamonn, 58, and his wife and presenting partner Ruth Langsford recently marked their wedding anniversary by sharing romantic messages with each other over social media.

The presenters - who have been together for 22 years in total - both took to Twitter to post heartfelt messages in recognition of their eighth wedding anniversary.

Eamonn shared a snap of the loved-up couple having an on-screen kiss, and he captioned the image: "Happy Anniversary my darling @RuthieeL . The fastest 22 years of my Life. Where did all that time go ? (sic)"

Ruth, on the other hand, posted a photograph of the couple on their wedding day.

She captioned the snap: "Still so in love with this wonderful man after 22yrs together. Happy Anniversary my darling @EamonnHolmes (sic)"

Eamonn and Ruth have a 16-year-old son, Jack, together.
