Eamonn Holmes is flabbergasted how his wife Ruth Langsford has so many soaps to watch, despite her tuning into them "every single night".

The 'This Morning' co-hosts have separate TV planners in two living rooms, where they record their own series, but he cannot understand why she can never catch up with the likes of 'EastEnders' and 'Coronation Street', despite regularly binge-watching the programmes.

The 'Do The Right Thing' presenter told the 'Series Linked' podcast: "Sometimes I go into Ruth's room and I say, 'How many episodes of 'EastEnders' have been made? How could you possibly have six to watch?'

"I just don't get that, because she's always watching them. Every night she's watching 'EastEnders' and 'Corrie', every single night."

Instead of the goings-on on the cobbles or in Albert Square, Eamonn prefers to tune into football and factual programmes, but admits if he is ever invited to watch the soaps with Ruth she will instruct him to be silent throughout.

He added: "We watch TV in separate rooms. We tend to watch different shows, so I suppose I watch a lot of live news, current affairs, that sort of stuff and football.

"That would take up a lot of my life viewing. Ruth loves 'Strictly Come Dancing' and won't go out on a Saturday night when that is on.

"On a Saturday night, a lot of people may not realise, but television like BBC Two and Channel Five, in particular, have got a lot of programmes that are factual-orientated.

"Even if she was luring me in, she would actually say 'You can come in here, only if you don't ask any questions. Don't be interrupting me with anything'. So we don't really watch TV together."

Eamonn insists the pair have only ever watched three whole series together, with the most recent one being 'Peter Kay's Car Share'.

While the couple don't watch a lot of TV together, they work best when they are on the box with each other.

They are currently hosting Channel Five consumer series 'Do The Right Thing', as well as 'This Morning' on Fridays, and the pair will also co-present new show 'This Morning on Sunday', which will feature a selection of the funniest and most entertaining moments from the week.
