The BBC soap will welcome a new clan headed up by single mum Karen (Lorraine Stanley) and her tough talking son Keanu - played by former 'Benidorm' star Danny Walters - and executive producer Sean O'Connor has teased they'll shake up Albert Square and bring plenty of drama to Walford.

He said in a statement: "I'm hugely excited at the arrival of Karen and her family in Albert Square. They're noisy, brash and not to be messed with."

Danny is very excited at his new venture and said the cast have welcomed The Taylors - which also includes Clair Norris as his mouthy sister Bernadette, real-life siblings Tom and Alfie Jacobs as his younger brothers Riley and Chatham and Bronson the dog - with open arms and he feels "privileged" to be a part of the classic soap.

He said: "I feel so privileged to already feel a part of the team.

"Everyone has been so friendly and kind and gone above and beyond to make us feel welcome and supported."

'Suffragette' star Lorraine is no stranger to Walford as she previously depicted a young version of 'EastEnders' favourite Mo Harris on the BBC spin-off 'Pat and Mo', and she's delighted she's been given a part on the soap with a "really special family".

She said: "I'm chuffed to be cast in such an iconic show that I've grown up watching. Working with my new family is really quite special, and I'm proud to play their mum."

And newcomer Clair admitted it is a dream come true to star in 'EastEnders' and she can't wait to see how the audience react to The Taylors.

gushed: "I'm so excited to go on a journey with my character Bernadette, and to be a part of the Taylor family. I never in a million years thought my first TV role would be in 'EastEnders'. It's surreal but I'm ever so grateful to be given the opportunity and I can't wait to see the audience's reaction to us."

The news comes as it was recently announced that 'EastEnders' spin-off show 'Redwater' will make its BBC One debut on May 18 at 8pm.
