The 20-year-old actor's alter-ego Gerry Roberts was murdered by evil Lachlan White (Thomas Atkinson) in last night's (17.05.18) episode, and while Shaun was surprised he remained on the ITV soap for so long, he was disappointed when bosses told him his time was up.

He told BANG Showbiz: "It was a shock because I was only meant to come here for two episodes in the prison scenes with Lachlan and then I ended up staying here for a year and a half.

"So I really got used to being around everybody and making a connection with everybody. And then to be told that it would be coming to an end it was pretty upsetting."

Gerry was killed off after Lachlan made the roof of the B&B collapse on his so-called pal in horrific scenes, and then instead of getting help as Gerry was clinging on, he dropped a huge stone on his head.

Shaun had to spend three days lying on the floor covered in rubble while shooting the tragic scenes, and he joked that was a "challenge in itself".

He said: "Just lying on that floor was a challenge in itself but working with Tom and the directors and the guys that we were working with they were so brilliant and made it so comfortable.

"They made it a lot easier to do my own thing."

Viewers watched on last night as despite being on the brink of meeting his maker, joker Gerry still managed to make some great quips.

Shaun added: "It's typical Gerry isn't it, whatever situation he's in he finds a way to make someone laugh or to make someone smile."
