The 'Love Island' winner - who previously played for MK Dons - is hoping to resume his career "when the time is right", and he jokingly asked the TV presenter if she could give her Chelsea manager hubby a nudge about him potentially joining the Blues.

When asked by Christine, who is standing in for Lorraine Kelly on 'Lorraine', what his future plans are, he said: "I'm hoping football, so if you don't mind just maybe mentioning it to Frank?

"If he needs a centre-back, just come and give me a shout.

"But no, I'll certainly look to get back into that.

"I'll sort of ride this out and when I feel the time is right I'll go back to it."

Christine joked: "I can make a few inroads for you, let me see what I can do."

Finn and his girlfriend and fellow 'Love Island' winner Paige Turley appeared on 'Lorraine' mainly to promote the release of her latest music, and Christine couldn't resist taking the opportunity to ask Paige about her ex, superstar singer Lewis Capaldi.

Quizzed on whether the pair had been in contact much, Paige said: "No. After 'Love Island' we exchanged texts.

"I congratulated him on the BRITs and likewise on 'Love Island'.

"But no, after then we've not."

Finn was playing semi-professional football for non-league club Oxford City when he starred in 'Love Island', and in mid-January, the football club claimed via Twitter that they were "not aware" Finn was appearing on the dating show, but they wished him luck.

A message on their Twitter account read: "The club was not aware Finn Tapp was going on Love Island - this is normal protocol for all contestants. We understand and wish Finn luck on the show."

Mick Livesey, Oxford City's commercial director, has since said: "He was [in breach of his contract] but I think you need to take a pragmatic sort of view: A 20-year-old lad, he's offered all this reality TV stuff.

"He has a contract, so he has to finish the contract he has with the football club.

"He's done very, very well for us."
