Based on the best-selling, award-winning fantasy novel of the same name by Neil Gaiman, American Gods has been making an incredible impression following its small screen debut, with British actors Ricky Whittle and Ian McShane leading the way in the roles of Shadow Moon and Mr Wednesday respectively. Telling the story of an impending war between the Gods, both Old and New, the pair must gear up for what may be one of the most ferocious battles in history.

Another big name connected to the series is Gillian Anderson, who plays the New God Media in the show. Adapting to real-life characters and personalities that have been a huge part of pop culture in the past, it looks as though she’ll be channelling her inner David Bowie, with one of the late singer’s iconic looks present as she takes to the screen. Check out the shot of Anderson as Media as Bowie below:

Bringing Bowie to the story isn’t something that happens in the original source material, but is obviously a brilliant choice following the artist’s passing thanks to his huge influence in popular culture throughout the years.

We know Anderson’s Media can have a huge allure when it comes to offering deals to Shadow and other members of the Old Gods opposition that she faces, so could Bowie allow some inner workings from the group to give the New Gods an upper hand?

American Gods continues Sundays on Starz in the US and Mondays on Amazon Prime Video in the UK.
