The Channel 4 baking competition is returning next week with Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith judging while Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas returning as hosts, while the line-up features a Metropolitan Police detective, an amateur trombonist and a retired midwife.

Detective Amanda, 56, studied graphic design and worked in advertising before moving into the police force, and her baking is said to be influenced by her Greek-Cypriot heritage.

She'll be joined by 50-year-old sales manager Chigs - who only took up baking in lockdown last year but is said to have quickly honed his skills - and client relationship manager Crystelle, 26, who looks to combine flavours from her diverse heritage as she was born in London to Kenyan born, Portuguese-Goan parents.

Also on the line-up is 19-year-old psychology student Freya - who has started making plant-based vegan cakes for her father - alongside Shared Lives coordinator George, 34, and 45-year-old Italian engineer Giuseppe.

Jairzeno, 51, moved from Trinidad 15 years ago and is now a head of finance in London, and he loves using Caribbean spices as he obsesses over flavour combinations.

IT professional and amateur trombonist Jurgen moved to the UK from his native Germany 18 years ago, and he got into baking when he realised he couldn't buy German bread.

Lizzie, 28, is a car production operative, while Channel 4 has claimed: "[She] may look like she's frantic and messy on the outside, but she is usually calm and collected within."

This year's oldest baker is retired nurse and midwife Maggie, 70, who has a keen interest in kayaking, sailing and canoeing.

Rochica - a 27-year-old junior HR business partner - had to stop dancing due to an injury, and she turned to baking to replace her lifelong passion.

Finally, the line-up is rounded off by Tom, 27, who works for his family's software company and rediscovered his childhood love for baking four years ago after making a sticky pudding cake for his dad.

'The Great British Bake Off' returns on September 21 at 8pm on Channel 4.
