After ten weeks of intense baking, tricky technical challenges and sensational showstoppers, the Great British Bake Off 2014 has crowned its champion.

Frontrunner Richard - who's won Star Baker a record total of five times throughout the series - seemed to fall at the last hurdle and faced a mediocre first couple of bakes.

Luis who's been praised for having heaps of creativity and originality also fell flat, but delivered a fantastic final piece in dedication to his hometown of Poynton.

It was Nancy however who impressed every step of the way, ticking every box and putting a Cheshire Cat grin on the faces of charismatic judges Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry.

As bakers of the series returned to see Nancy take home the title of Bake Off champion, the elation in her and her family's face was easy to see.

Calling it "one of the best things" she's done in her 60 years, Nancy said she "couldn't remember what happened" when thinking back to the time her name was read out by host Mel.

Her fellow contenders Luis and Richard conceded that the right decision was made and genuinely seemed to be over the moon for someone they now regarded a close friend.

Nancy took to her Twitter this morning to declare everybody on the show was a winner, and also retweeted a picture Paul Hollywood had posted the night before - a selfie with the newly crowned victor.

Great British Bake Off is now taking applications for the next series, expected to air at the same time in 2015.
