The BBC Radio 1 DJ admitted Steve Coogan's iconic comedy character - a hapless TV presenter totally lacking in self awareness - was such a "p**s take" of the Beeb's tea time magazine show during his most recent series that he still can't bring himself to even accept a guest spot on the programme because now the lines are so blurred.

Speaking to Digital Spy's 'Secret Obsession' video series, he said: "This is something I haven't admitted to anyone, maybe except my own wife, ever since they did the show on BBC One called 'This Time with Alan Partridge', which is essentially a piss take of 'The One Show', I haven't been able to say I'd like to host 'The One Show',

"'The One Show' have asked me to host it as a guest host and I've actually said no because I think it's too much like Partridge and I can't do it without thinking I have actually become him, so 'The One Show' is done for me."

Meanwhile, the 33-year-old star revealed his love for the character shines in a number of way, even including the way he dresses for work.

He added: "I try to get in as many Alan Partridge quotes into my own shows.

"I even have a cardboard cut-out in the spare room where I get dressed early morning. He's right next to the mirror, so I look at him and look at me to check I haven't dressed too much like him."

Despite his best efforts, Greg admitted he does quote Patridge "a lot" as he goes about his day.

He said: "I do use quite a lot of Alan Partridge quotes in my daily life, to the point where I feel like I probably have merged into him a little bit."
