The 53-year-old actor shot to fame as Mike Young on the Australian soap and yesterday (02.12.20) he marked the 35th anniversary of his first piece of filming on the show, admitting he was a "nervous" 18 year old at the time, but has some "great memories" from his time in Erinsborough.

He wrote on Twitter: "Dec 2nd 1985. On this day 35 years ago I started filming a little tv show in Ramsey street. Some of you may have heard of it. I was just 18 and a tad nervous. I met wonderful people and have great memories. I'll always appreciate this incredible opportunity. Thanku!! @neighbours (sic)"

In March, Annie Jones - who recently made a permanent 'Neighbours' comeback as Jane Harris - revealed how she tried to get Guy and Jason Donovan (Scott Robinson) back on Ramsay Street for the soap's 35th anniversary celebrations.

She said: "Stefan Dennis (Paul Robinson) and I caught up with Jason Donovan and Guy Pearce when we were all in the UK a while ago.

“We tried to persuade them to do it but they are both so darn busy!

"Jason has been in Melbourne doing 'Chicago' on stage. I’m pretty sure Guy is in Amsterdam or somewhere exotic making a movie."

While bosses couldn't convince them this time round, Annie is "sure" Jason and Guy would be open to a comeback in the right circumstances.

She added: "So the stars didn’t line up in this instance, but you never know.

"I’m sure they’d love to if they could make it work and they happened to be in Australia at the right time. I’ll keep trying!"

Since appearing in 'Neighbours', Guy has gone on to become a Hollywood star, appearing in the likes of 'LA Confidential', 'The Hurt Locker', and 'The King's Speech'.
