Holly Willoughby almost wiped out the cast of 'Emmerdale' when her phone dropped from the balcony at London's The O2 arena into the party below at the National Television Awards last night (23.01.18).

The 'This Morning' host "could've killed someone" when her mobile slipped from her hand while she was nattering with Graham Norton after the glamorous ceremony and it plummeted into the bash below where the cast of the ITV soap were showing off their snazzy moves on the dance floor.

Speaking on today's brunch time show, Holly said: "I was in the car and I got a message from you [Alison Hammond] saying, 'Have you got your phone?' What happened was I was talking to Graham Norton and my phone literally flew out of my hand...."

Alison chimed in: "It was a very high drop - a massive drop - and you could've killed someone. Shall I tell you what happened to your phone?

"It actually fell into the cast of 'Emmerdale' while they were partying and then they had to fight their way through security in order to get the phone back to you. So there's a lot of apologies to make."

Phillip Schofield - who is struggling today with his stonking hangover - tried to make a joke out of the situation and joked that if it hadn't landed on the soap stars, her phone may have been destroyed.

He said as he laid in the studio bed nursing his sore head: "Thank goodness it bounced off the 'Emmerdale' cast otherwise you might have broken your screen."

A concerned Holly, 36, realised her error and said: "I hope everyone is alright."

And Alison replied: " It didn't land on anyone. But it landed in the party."
