Holly Willoughby missed 'This Morning' for a third day due to illness

The 40-year-old TV presenter has been absent from the programme this week due to a stomach bug, with Josie Gibson taking her place alongside regular co-host Phillip Schofield, but she is confident of returning to the studio next week.

She issued a statement on Instagram via her cat, writing: "Good morning… My name is Bluebell, sadly Holly won’t be able to come out to play on @thismorning today as she is still under the weather… seriously what I’ve witnessed over the last 48 hours you wouldn’t want her there… I’m sure she’ll be back on Monday… Honestly I’m sick of the sight of her! (sic)"

On the show today (18.11.21), Phil admitted Holly has gone through a "proper rough time of it" with her bug.

He said: "Good morning to Holly. I texted her this morning and she is much improved from her stomach bug, but still not quite there.

"But she will be by Monday. She's had a proper rough time of it."

Josie thanked Phil for showing her the ropes while they have co-hosted the show together this week.

She said: "Three days, I can't believe it. I'm really enjoying it and I've had a real good time.

"What our viewers don't you is you're not only presenting and driving the show, you're also teaching me as well. And you've done it so smoothly I doubt anybody at home has noticed."

He replied: "You're very sweet, but I haven't had to do any of that - because you're brilliant."

On yesterday's show (17.11.21), Josie - who is usually a roving reporter on the programme - admitted she had cried happy tears for 30 minutes after making her 'This Morning' presenting debut on Tuesday (16.11.21).

The former 'Big Brother' star said: "Social media can be quite a dark place at times, but yesterday I was showered with love.

"There are some really lovely, good people about.

"It's really embarrassing, but I did have a good cry for about half an hour."

Phil asked Josie if she had cried tears of "relief", and she replied: "It was just so emotional. It was a really big thing to be sat here with you yesterday, and to have all those lovely messages.

"I can't thank you guys at home enough.

"I want Holly to get better by the way, I can only wing it for so much."
