The makers of 'The Only Way Is Essex' and 'The Real Housewives of Cheshire' are said to be working on a brand new reality show which will follow the lives of the rich locals living in Ascot, which is set to be titled 'Absolutely Ascot'.

According to The Sun's Bizarre TV column, the programme is hoping to rival E4 show 'Made in Chelsea', which follows the young people living in the exclusive London borough.

A source told the publication: "Every year we have the world's stars descend on Ascot for the horse race, everyone from international royalty and film stars to all the C-listers. Everyone must just come in and think it's a boring little place with not much going on.

"But behind the big houses and the famous races, Ascot is one of the most valuable places in the UK, with the average house property setting you back nearly £900,000 and a healthy dose of famous locals living here over the years including Chris Evans and Girls Aloud's Sarah Harding.

"It's a great place to live with a lot of rich but not-so-famous people, there's some real characters.

"It's well deserving of landing its own TV show and will give the likes of 'Made In Chelsea' and the rest of the country's Desperate Housewives, a run for their money."

However, the new show comes after 'Made in Chelsea' star Sam Thompson hinted that he was set to quit TV after being left "stressed and ill" by his "mad" schedule.

He said: "I want to relax for a little bit. It's been two years of just madness. I have done so much. I've been getting a bit ill recently, I'm stressed quite a lot in terms of I haven't stopped, so I'll probably settle down and have a little game."

And his sister Louise also commented on how the show has had a negative impact on her mental health.

She said: "If I'm honest, I had a few instances where I thought I might have been dying. I have laid in bed and thought, 'I'm sure other people would go and get their stomach pumped or something'."
