Jack P. Shepherd cannot ever imagine leaving 'Coronation Street' - because he has too much fun "messing around" with his co-stars.

The 30-year-old actor has played David Platt for 18 years on the ITV soap but doesn't see himself appearing on other projects, because he loves to "d**k around" in the green room when the cameras aren't rolling at the show's Manchester base.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz, he said: "Someone came up to me over the weekend and said, 'Oh would you ever branch out and do other things?'

"And I said, 'No,' because I get to d**k around, I get to just p**s around a bit, take the p**s.

"It's fun, and every now and again we'll do a bit of acting, you know what I mean? Then we'll just mess around for a bit longer in the green room."

Jack also appreciates starring in hard-hitting storylines, and thought it was "very clever" when David finally spoke out about being raped by Josh Tucker (Ryan Clayton), after discovering Aidan Connor (Shayne Ward) had taken his own life following a losing battle with his inner demons.

He added: "I've had nice reactions. I think when people first heard about this story, on my Twitter everyone was kicking off and saying it shouldn't be on TV, it's a family show, you shouldn't be able to see this.

"And you didn't see it, did you? I think 'Corrie' have handled it really well to be careful with the story, and actually people's opinions have changed.

"I always preferred 'Corrie' when they do those interweaving stories ... obviously, the Aidan story when he took his life, it was like a lightning bolt to David to say, 'Right, I'm going to do something about it rather than suffering in silence.' "
