The former 'Strictly Come Dancing' professional and the ex-Westlife star are the third and fourth celebrities to join the forthcoming series, after Gemma Collins and Richard Blackwood signed up to get their skates on.

James said: "I'm so excited that I'm going to be on 'Dancing on Ice' this year. Yes, I can dance, but can I ice skate? No. This is going to be a little bit of a problem I think."

Brian is also "excited" about stepping foot on the ice, and has been putting in plenty of practice with his roller blades.

Confirming the news on 'Lorraine', he said: "Hi Lorraine, yes the news is true. I am going to be doing 'Dancing on Ice' 2019. I'm very excited.

"I've already been practicing out the back garden on my roller blades, and my mammie says I'm a one man Torvill and Dean. Watch this space."

Lorraine Kelly then said: "He'll be good. He'll give it 100 per cent, he'll go for it."

However, the TV presenter is not so confident about Gemma's ice ability, predicting 'The Only Way is Essex' star will "walk out on episode one".

She said: "She won't do it. You know she's going to walk out on episode one ... or even before that."

Gemma admitted this week she is feeling "scared and nervous" about taking part.

She said: "As a young girl my brother used to play ice hockey so I was at the rink a lot and I remember seeing some white boots in the shop and asking my mum to be a skater but she said 'No, you're doing dance and drama and singing, you're not doing any more, we can't afford it.' So I never got those white boots.

"I know how hard it is, I've done my research. I am scared and nervous, I don't know how they're gonna lift me up and how fast I can get around the ice ... I really want to give this a go."
