The 'Hide & Seek' crooner, who was mentored by Kelly Rowland on the talent show in 2011, is working on her third studio album and revealed she'd be interested in meeting with the judge to discuss the 2016 LP titled 'Holy Water'.

Janet exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "There could be a meeting with Syco if they want one. It would be a full circle kind of thing. Do the show, go out there, do your records and then come back."

And the flame-haired beauty believes she has come a long way since her time on the show at the tender age of 16.

Reflecting on the eighth series, which was eventually won by girl group Little Mix, she said: "I didn't know how to perform.

"Singing in your bedroom and writing songs is a totally different thing to singing to millions of people on television so I kind of had to play to my strengths, which was just performing emotionally."

Despite their musical genres being worlds apart, Janet found Kelly's guidance helped her to be more confident.

She continued : "It was different because our styles of performing were so different. She's a megastar, she does the whole theatricality and she sings and of all of that whereas I was a bit like 'I'll just get off stage now'.

"She tried to help me get more comfortable with myself but unfortunately in that period of my life I wasn't really ready."

Meanwhile, Janet is set to release a Christmas EP titled 'December Daze' which features both originals and cover songs.

She added: "I thought you know what? I want to get into Christmas this year, because I've always been like a self confessed Grinch! So I thought this year I'm going to get into it and it's going to be amazing."

'December Daze' is out on November 27.
