Jason Manford loved filming 'Death In Paradise' in Guadeloupe earlier this year.

The 39-year-old comedian - who was confirmed this week for the upcoming 10th series of the BBC drama which is shot on the island - admitted it was a fantastic experience being part of the production.

Speaking before the announcement, he exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I don't know? I was filming in Guadeloupe, I know that. [laughs] If you can work out what's filmed over there, I'll let you do the detective work.

"It was great, it was just a lot of fun to be doing anything, if I'm honest.

"It's a lovely part of the world, there's a lot of nice people working on a show out there. [laughs] I can't say what it was - but it was a lot of fun."

Jason had to keep tight lipped for a while, and he admitted he often struggles with keeping secrets.

He joked: "Oh, I'm the worst. I'm always telling people what I'm up to and then I get an email the next morning, 'Oh can you not mention this, can you take that post down?' "

Like everyone, the Manchester-based star has seen his life changed by the pandemic this year, with his upcoming 'Like Me' live tour now scheduled for September 2021.

Asked about his future plans, he said: "Not a massive amount, if I'm honest. The tour kicks off next year. I was lucky enough to do bits like this and a couple of other bits - Guadeloupe - and I hosted the Oliviers.

"There's a couple of pilots and stuff, but I'm spending my time writing really. It's a bit early to start writing the tour, I'll probably start writing in the new year.

"But I've been writing a couple of comedies and dramas to see if I can get anything off the ground."

Now, Jason has been working with Sky Cinema to find the UK's biggest 'Elf' fan, with Christmas obsessives tasked with sending in a comment, video or photo to make their case.

He loved getting to spend some time recreating his favourite moments from Will Ferrell's classic seasonal blockbuster, and he thinks getting in the festive spirit could be what people need as 2020 comes to an end.

He said: "It's a great film, isn't it? It was a fun day, doing the scenes from the film, messing around - we had a good laugh.

"It's come at a time where 2020 has obviously been horrible for everybody, whoever you are, and Christmas is obviously going to be very different from how it normally is - whether we get to see each other or not, who knows?

"What you do at Christmas, you get into little traditions, things that keep you going. I know friends of mine who've already started watching Christmas films round the house!

"That's the one thing that gets us together, Christmas - whether we're together physically or not. At least we can enjoy all the Christmas stuff that we love doing."

Jason was speaking on behalf of Sky Cinema, who has launched a competition to celebrate 'Elf' coming to Sky Cinema on 8th December.
