The 51-year-old TV star has revealed he reached out to the chart-topping pop star to offer his support, and also revealed they've been "working on something together".

He said on 'Lorraine': "When you mentor and you give back to people without looking to receive, sometimes it comes back again.

"Leigh-Anne is one of those young people who I've mentored along the way; when you get them coming back and giving out to people saying, 'This is what I've been through, this is what you should be doing, we need to make a change' it's absolutely beautiful."

Leigh-Anne, 29, recently made a documentary about racism for the BBC, and Jay feels incredibly proud of what she's managed to achieve during her career.

He also teased that they've been working on a new project.

Jay said: "She's doing brilliant.

"We are going to announce something soon - we are working together on something."

Jay also revealed he's set to meet his eldest sister for the first time in more than two decades.

The TV star endured a difficult upbringing and is now trying to track down his 25 siblings.

He shared: "I’ve got 25 brothers and sisters and met 11 of them, and recently I got in contact with my older sister that I’ve always wanted to meet. I can’t wait to meet her. It’s gonna be a real emotional time."

Meanwhile, Leigh-Anne recently confessed to suffering a confidence crisis after years of feeling she was being "overlooked".

The pop star admitted to lacking confidence and feeling like "the invisible one" in the group because she was the only black girl in the band.

Leigh-Anne - who stars in Little Mix alongside Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards - explained: "I feel like I didn't believe in myself enough and that's from all those years of feeling so overlooked and feeling like the invisible one.

"But I think now, me speaking out and telling the world of my experiences and hearing other people relate to me and hearing other people's stories, helps."
