During lockdown in 2020, Tiger King, the story of Joe Exotic and sworn enemy, Carole Baskin, was released onto Netflix, and viewers everywhere seemed to binge the whole season in a flash, before sharing their thoughts and opinions online.

The popular Netflix explored the rivalry and events that led to Joe’s arrest; he is currently serving a 22-year sentence for a murder-for-hire plot.

Joe owned over a thousand tigers, lions and bears, which he claimed to care and love; however, Carole, an animal rights activist and owner of a big cat sanctuary, threatened to put Joe out of business, which led to a very chaotic chain of events.

That story has now been dramatised, with the official trailer for Joe vs Carole released by Sky TV onto YouTube; the show will be able to stream on Sky, NOW and Peacock from early March, 2022.

The series is a scripted adaptation of the Wondery podcast that debuted in 2022, which was both hosted and reported by Robert Moor.

Joe vs Carole is a way for audiences to see some recognisable faces take on some of the most infamous real-life characters in this forthcoming and limited series.

The show is based on the real events as well as the vicious rivalry between Carole and Joe ‘Exotic’ Schreibvogel and their two Big Cat businesses.

The cast includes Kate McKinnon (Saturday Night Live), who will be portraying Carole, and John Cameron Mitchell (Hedwig and the Angry Inch) is set to take on the role of the Tiger King himself.

Based on the original podcast, the series also stars Kyle MacLachlan (Twin Peaks) as Howard Baskin, Brian Van Holt (Cougar Town) as John Reinke, Sam Keeley (68 Whiskey) as John Finlay, Nat Wolff (The Naked Brothers Band) as Travis Maldonado, Marlo Kelly (Home & Away) as Jamie Murdock, William Fichtner (Prison Break) as Rick Kirkham, with Dean Winters (30 Rock) as Jeff Lowe and David Wenham (Iron First) as Don Lewis.

The trailer for Joe vs Carole shows McKinnon and Mitchell in action as Carole and Joe, respectively, as the pair fight for what the each believe to be the right thing; the show appears to be tense, slightly comical, and a way for viewers to witness the story in a different light.

All eight episodes of Joe vs Carole will be released on March 4th, 2022 on Peacock, exclusively on Sky and NOW.
