John Krasinski discusses season 2 of Jack Ryan

One of those who spoke about their experience with Amazon so far, as well as his lead role in the series Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan was John Krasinski (The Office, A Quiet Place), and the actor was very excited about having some new faces on board for the second season of the show.

“We have a bunch of new characters,” Krasinski explained. “One of my favourite characters is this whole new female counterpart/friend and enemy of Jack’s in the show, played by Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo). We’re so incredibly lucky to get her and she’s been incredible.”

He added: “Michael Kelly’s (House of Cards) been unbelievable in the show. He’s basically my CIA boss - I get a lot of CIA bosses that tell me what to do and I sort of don’t listen; that’s sort of how I get in the field.”

Krasinski also revealed why he thinks Jack Ryan is better suited for television, explaining that he thinks the character has too much of a story to be told in a single outing.

“For me, what’s different about our take on it, and the truth is I think I got lucky by doing longform storytelling; I think when you are trying to make a movie with that much incredible material, rich detail that Clancy wrote, it’s very hard to do it all in two hours,” he said.

Jack Ryan of course isn’t the only project under Krasinski’s belt, and with his fingers in so many pies, he was asked how he manages to balance everything.

“Truly the reason why I do all these things is because, when I got The Office [at NBC] I felt so lucky that I felt I didn’t deserve it so I should start learning everything else,” he explained, “so at least I could call my Dad, ‘I deserve it, trust me, I’m working hard!’

“So I started going into the editing bays, I started directing on The Office and writing on The Office and just getting a sense of the whole world, and I just fell in love with all of it. It was just one of those things where I just felt, when you get an opportunity like this don’t squander it; do everything you can with it.”

Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan season 1 is available now on Amazon Prime Video. We’ll bring you more updates surrounding the show’s second season as and when we get them.
