The 'Good Morning Britain' host - whose partner Derek Draper has been hospitalised for seven months after being diagnosed with Covid-19 in March - gave ITV viewers an update on his condition this week, and revealed their kids Darcy and Billy hadn't seen their father in months.

Appearing on the breakfast show on Thursday (15.10.20), she said: "I'm doing OK thank you.

"The problem is, I feel like I'm boring everyone to death because it ends up being the same, he is stable but actually in between there are big ups and downs. Not big ups - small improvements and worrying downs.

"The last few days have been pretty stable so we are keeping everything crossed.

"Darcy has not been able to see Derek, his mum and dad haven't been able to see him. They are in tier 2 in Lancashire and so could go into lockdown and might not be able to see him for months."

And while Kate offered some sympathy to people growing tired of lockdown restrictions, she insisted "nobody in the country" would want to suffer what she and her family have been through.

She added: "I'm conscious that I've been in a very strange place and what (the kids) could do with is a little bit of fun on their half term something out of the house.

"It would be nice to go somewhere else, so I get why people would feel that and if you haven't got someone as seriously ill as Derek is...

"But when I see Derek I just think nobody in the country would want that for anyone they love or themselves."

Her co-star Susanna Reid pointed out that her updates about Derek have been inspirational to people watching.

She said: "It's not boring anybody. I know you are concerned with that.

"But you are amazing because you always have a smile on your face, you are an inspiring person."
