The 26-year-old actress has swapped shooting on the cobbles for social media swiping as she can now make money from her 263,000 followers.

Katie's has just been seen in her final scenes as her character Sinead Tinker, who tragically lost her battle with cervical cancer in an emotional storyline, and now she's off TV screens she has been posting adverts for a vegan lip gloss brand, which experts say should be earning a hefty sum.

An insider told The Sun Online: "Coming off the biggest soap in the country with huge social followings they are a dream to companies wanting to reach viewers without spending major amounts on advertising.

"Stars can commanded hundreds of pounds for a quick Instagram story if they're smart. They could make thousands a month just from some bigger posts."

Celebrities could earn a quick £750 for a story snap and link to a product, while a full post could be up to £5,000 with the product thrown in for free.

But Katie will soon not be the only former 'Corrie' star cashing in on the social media app.

Kym Marsh and Lucy Fallon are both set to leave the ITV show with Kym - who plays Michelle Connor - already posting ads for furniture brands and gas companies on her own social media since revealing she was taking a break from the programme. The former Hear'Say singer has filmed her final scenes.

However, Lucy needs to wait until she leaves next year before she can begin promoting brands or obtain the ITV show's permission first.

Jack P. Shepherd who continues to play David Platt got a telling off from bosses last month for posting a hair transplant clinic on his social media.

A source said: "Jack got a real dressing down and was told not to repeat his behaviour. It was a very serious breach and he was left in no uncertain terms that he had overstepped the mark.

"He was told he was being fined and the figure was a couple of thousand pounds."
