The former Atomic Kitten singer is said to have filmed the Channel 4 show alongside the likes of Vicky Pattison and Ulrika Jonsson in October last year.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "Aside from 'I’m A Celebrity' in 2004, Kerry has never taken on a show more challenging than 'Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins'.

“After spending a lot of last year getting her fitness up she decided to take the plunge when approached by Channel 4."

The 40-year-old star has been described as a "tough cookie", and it's thought she could surprise viewers.

The insider added: “Kerry is a tough cookie, mentally and physically, so viewers may be surprised by how well she gets on.

"There is a lot more to Kerry than meets the eye and she really threw herself into the competition.”

Meanwhile, former Special Forces soldier Ant Middleton will be part the next civilian and celebrity versions of the show after being dropped from the programme due to his "personal conduct".

A C4 spokesperson previously said: "Ant Middleton will not be taking part in future series of 'SAS: Who Dares Wins'.

"Following a number of discussions Channel 4 and Minnow Films have had with him in relation to his personal conduct it has become clear that our views and values are not aligned and we will not be working with him again."

Ant recently admitted he will not be everyone's "cup of tea" and drew comparisons between himself and Piers Morgan - who quit 'Good Morning Britain' last month after refusing to apologise for his comments about Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex - and Jeremy Clarkson, who was axed from 'Top Gear' in 2015 after an "unprovoked attack" on a producer.

He said: "This last week so many doors have opened, production companies and channels calling me.

"You get cancelled then that’s your career done but you’ve got Piers Morgans, Jeremy Clarksons and now you’ve got your Ant Middletons.

"I’m not going to be comfortable with everyone, and I’m not going to be their cup of tea.

"Well that’s fine because guess what, I don’t want to work with you."
