The 'Coronation Street' actress thinks her former co-star - who recently bowed out of his role on the soap as Aidan Connor in a hard-hitting suicide storyline - would be a great campmate and would provide plenty of entertainment for his fellow contestants and the viewers at home.

Writing in her OK! magazine column, she said: "Now that Shayne Ward has left 'Corrie', it's rumoured he might do 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!'.

"He'd definitely be entertaining if he was to head to the jungle.

"Shayne would be fun and a good sport and he'd probably sing the entire time as that's what he used to do at work all day."

It was previously claimed the former 'X Factor' winner was an "obvious choice" for the jungle contest, while it would also help him build up his profile following his departure from 'Corrie'.

A source said recently: "Shayne has built up a huge and loyal fan base at 'Corrie' and his exit storyline has been talked about up and down the country.

"But behind the scenes he's also considered one of the nicest men in soap with a quirky sense of humour that would work well in the jungle camp. We think he's an obvious choice for the new series as he ticks a lot of boxes.

"It would also give him a chance of letting fans get to know him a bit more as he continues his career away from Weatherfield."

Shayne has been linked to a role in 'Bancroft' after 'Corrie' series producer Kate Oates - who is to depart the show next month to take the reins on the second series of the ITV drama - hinted she would love to work with him again.

She exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I knew Shayne the way so many people knew Shayne - as a singer. In giving him the story and watching him grow with it I think he can hold his own in any drama.

"I would love to work with Shayne again. Do you think he'll out price me? Have I created a monster?

"Well in a way I'd kinda love that if that was true for him. He's done so brilliantly."
