Lucy, 22, stunned her castmates and Twitter followers this week by tweeting that she has "never had a cup of tea" in her life and that she intends to continue to avoid the hot beverage, which is part of the fabric of British society.

Numerous people, including Georgia Taylor who plays Toyah Battersby on the ITV soap, messaged her with their shock and now Kym (Michelle Connor) has joined in.

Lucy was followed by brand Yorkshire Tea on Twitter, prompting her to tweet: "Don't start thinking you can change my mind @YorkshireTea (sic)"

The company's official account then messaged back, saying: "Nobody should be forced to live a life without tea! It's our moral duty to try and rescue you."

Lucy then responded by saying: "All you can do is try x (sic)"

Following the thread, Kym, 42, decided the time was right to wade in to the tea talk.

She said: "Lucy you don't know what you're missing!! Especially @YorkshireTea It's all we drink in our house!! A nice hot brew and of course an @McVities chocolate honnob!!! (sic)"

But despite Kym's glowing recommendation, Lucy just isn't sure if she's ready to try a cup of builders, breakfast or Earl Grey.

She tweeted: "I just don't know if I can :'( (sic)"

Yorkshire Tea has created a number of unique blends for its celebrity fans, including Oscar winner Russell Crowe and former Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher.
