The former 'Coronation Street' actress' mother and father are both shielding again after the UK was plunged into a third lockdown, and the soap star admitted her dad is "terrified" and is waiting for his vaccine.

She said: "We're back in lockdown and, to be honest, after so many of us entered Tier Four before Christmas, I suspected it might be coming.

"But even so, no one could have foreseen that a new strain would develop and the confusion it's caused.

"My parents have been very low and fed up as they've now had to go back into shielding.

"Dad is terrified - he's just waiting for his vaccine as he's on the vulnerable list."

Kym - who played Michelle Connor on the ITV soap - admitted she "doesn't always have a clue" when it comes to homeschooling, but she praised her nine-year-old daughter Polly's teachers, admitting they have been "brilliant".

Writing in her OK! magazine column, she added: "Her teachers have once more been brilliant at organising her homeschooling, but she's sad not to see her friends for so long again.

"I really feel for all the brilliant teachers who have had so many ups and downs over the last year.

"Polly's school have been brilliant and now we're having Zoom calls with them to make sure we're OK with her work - as, to be honest, I don't always have a clue.

"Teachers across the UK have been wonderful this year and we should all be celebrating them."
