The 'Corrie' star - who plays Michelle Connor in the soap - was stunned to hear the 'Firework' hitmaker watches the ITV soap when she visits the UK, and Kym can't quite get over the huge celebrity following, which includes Queen Elizabeth, who tune in to find out the goings on in Weatherfield.

She said: "Katy Perry was performing recently and told the crowd she watched Coronation Street! It always makes me laugh when the most unlikely people say they're a fan of the show.

"Her Majesty the Queen watches it and I find it bizarre to think of her sat watching the soap in the surroundings of Buckingham Palace."

But Kym's biggest surprise came when she found out US rapper Snoop Dogg loves to tune in to the programme.

Writing in her OK! magazine column, she added: "The strangest fan for me is Snoop Dogg, who once expressed his love for the show.

"It's funny to think of him dipping in and out of Corrie while making music in Los Angeles."

Kym's comments come just days after Katy revealed she is "obsessed" with England, and loves to watch 'Corrie' and rival soap 'EastEnders' when she visits the country.

Speaking to fans at her show at London's The O2, she said: "I am obsessed with this country.

"I fall in love with the English very easily.

"I like to watch 'Coronation Street' and 'EastEnders'."

Katy's revelation came just days after Rolling Stones frontman Sir Mick Jagger made a quip about 'Coronation Street' serial killer Pat Phelan (Connor McIntyre) - who shot Kym's character Michelle recently - during the band's Old Trafford gig in Manchester earlier this month.

He told the crowd: "We went to the Northern Quarter. We went down the Curry Mile and I think I saw Pat Phelan. He was eating some papadums!"
