The special series will be aired in the lead up to Remembrance Sunday (11.11.18), and each episode will feature a different famous face looking back at the role a close family member played.

The former 'EastEnders' actor will be one of five stars taking part in the show, alongside 'The Royle Family' actress Sue Johnston, Radzi Chinyanganya ('Blue Peter'), Paralympic legend Tanni Grey-Thompson and 'Absolutely Fabulous' comedienne Helen Lederer.

The new series - which air in the week leading up to the date remembering those who lost their lives fighting in the armed forces - will commemorate the work of the ordinary men and women who did their bit on the Home Front.

As revealed by the BBC: "Along the way, they'll meet people whose lives were transformed by what happened on the Home Front, as well as some of those today performing very similar roles as their relatives did back in the war."

Dan McGolpin, controller of BBC Programming and Daytime, announced the new programme as part of a new set of five upcoming factual shows coming to the broadcaster.

'One Day That Changed My Life' - narrated by Jo Joyner - will look at dramatic real-life stories, including significant job interviews, wedding proposals and even a DNA test.

Another show, 'Operation NHS Fraud', will delve into the world of the investigators of the NHS Counter Fraud Authority, and follow their cases from the tip-off right through to a conviction.

'Payback Time For Frontline Crime' will focus on the bravery of the police force, paramedics and firefighters who are attacked in the line of duty - and then return to work.

Paul Martin's 'Make Me A Dealer' will give wannabe antique experts a chance to learn the tricks of the trade as two amateur enthusiasts compete on each episode to buy anything at auction and then sell it for the highest price.

Dan said: "Original factual programming is the foundation of the BBC One Daytime schedule and with these new commissions we have something for everyone."
