The 23-year-old pro surfer has been subjected to cruel messages from some viewers of the ITV2 show, who branded her shoulders "too blokey" for the programme, but the blonde stunner insists he has had the last laugh by leaving the show with "the hottest guy", Jack Fowler.

She said: "I was trolled by nasty girls who told me I looked like a man, but honestly, it's cool.

"I saw comments saying I looked scruffy, but I was showing another side and that girls can be who they want. I went in there and left the show with the hottest guy.

"I was always insecure about my shoulders, but have grown to love them. For all the girls with the big shoulders - they are your superpower.

"If I didn't have these strong arms and legs I wouldn't be able to stand up on a surfboard and travel the world doing what I love.

"I went on 'Love Island' to inspire young girls to be sporty and show you don't have to have a full face of make-up and perfect hair to feel good about yourself. Being physically fit and healthy can do that, too."

Laura insists she "didn't see the point" of putting on a full face of make-up in the villa every morning like some of her female co-stars, just minutes before she was about to jump in the pool.

She said: "They walk out of the dressing room in the morning with faces of make-up and perfect hair like they've just walked off a catwalk.

"Then there's me washing my face with water and scraping my hair back because I don't see the point in putting make-up on if I'm going in the pool in five minutes."

Laura and 22-year-old personal trainer Jack departed the villa as a couple, but the surf babe admits they have been "taking it slower" since they re-entered the real world.

She added to the Daily Star newspaper: "We're not officially boyfriend and girlfriend. Since we came out we are taking it slower.

"We're just not rushing. We've seen other things go wrong, but we do have genuine feelings. I trust him and I will trust him until I have reason not to."
