The 'Love Island' star paid tribute to her mother after a "scary" 10 days in hospital which saw her diagnosed with the life-threatening condition, and she is "forever grateful" to the medics who saved her.

She wrote on her Instagram Stories: "The real queen ... mummy crane couldnt' have got through this week without you (sic)"

Laura also shared a picture on Instagram of herself in her hospital bed, and added the caption: "DAY 10 in hospital and your girl has FINALLY been sent home, honestly it has been the worst week of my life .. when I fell ill last Tuesday with a temperature never did I think it was about to be a week as scary as it has been .

Being someone that never really gets ill, I never thought that something like this would happen to me, however, it has taught me how important it is to listen to your body because it can so quickly turn fatal if you don't look for the vital signs.

It's going to be a slow recovery, but I am so grateful to have had the people I had around me this week that spent countless hours in my hospital room wiping my tears and making sure I didn't run away when I was told I had to stay day after day I will be forever grateful to the doctors and nurses that looked after me you are the true angels, the hours that you work and the jobs that you do are incredibly difficult and should get more recognition for what you do because you're literally life savers THANKYOU

And to all of you that sent messages they did not go unnoticed I feel so blessed to have the support and love of you all.

I have learnt so much this week In so many ways I'll be back stronger than ever (sic)"

Last week, it was confirmed Laura had been diagnosed with sepsis - a serious complication of an infection, also known as blood disease - which had "spread quite rapidly".

Her representative said: "Laura is sadly quite unwell. She was rushed in on Tuesday and they quickly diagnosed sepsis.

"It's taking time to control her temperature and rid her blood of the infection, but it had spread quite rapidly.

"A scary time for her and her family but we're praying she makes a full recovery in the next couple of days."

In September, Laura split from her boyfriend Jack Fowler, who she met on the ITV2 dating show.

She said: "Sadly Jack and I have both decided to go our separate ways due to such busy schedules right now and not having the time to spend together.

"Feel truly blessed to have got to share my Love Island experience with him and to have made a friend for life. We will carry on supporting each other on this journey and I can't wait to see where it takes us."
