Linda Robson nearly quit 'Loose Women' after bosses told her she had to "wear high shoes" on air.

The 'Birds of a Feather' actress was left reeling when she received an official email requesting she sit on the panel in high heels.

As a matter of principle, flat shoe-loving Linda, 58, replied straight away to inform management she wouldn't be interested in taking a job on the ITV daytime show if they were going to tell her what to wear.

During a discussion on the programme on Thursday (12.05.16), she shared: "I got an email from 'Loose Women' once and I read the email, and it said that we're asking all the presenters to wear high shoes, so I emailed back and said, 'I don't want the job then'. I mean, we're not a character, it's us, it's what we're comfortable in and I'm not comfortable in high shoes."

But fellow presenter Jane Moore said a pair of stilettos helps her to feel dressed up, despite wearing flats most of the time.

She chimed: "Because I'm sat on the end, a pair of old trainers won't cut the mustard so I'll put nice shoes on, but I wear flats all the time."

And Ruth Langsford and Penny Lancaster also admitted they preferred to wear high heels when appearing on the series.

Linda made her revelation as the four ladies were talking about the real-life case of Nicola Thorp who insisted on wearing flats for her temporary job as a receptionist at PwC, despite being told by outsourcing firm Portico that she had to wear two to four inch heels as part of the company's "formal dress code".

Her stand resulted in her being sent home without pay.
