The former 'EastEnders' actress - whose character Abi Branning was tragically killed off earlier this year - is to tread the boards in Rebecca Lenkiewicz's production, which marks the centenary of women being given the right to vote.

Lorna wrote on Twitter: "I have some really EXCITING news.... I'm going to be performing as 'EVE' in 'Her naked Skin' @salisburyplay in October! I'm sooooo excited! Can not wait (sic)"

The 22-year-old actress will appear alongside Abigail Cruttenden (Celia) in the production, which will run at Salisbury Playhouse from October 4-20.

The role will be Lorna's second theatre part since she departed the soap, after making her professional stage debut in 'The Shadow Factory' at Nuffield Southampton Theatres.

Former 'EastEnders' star Jane How - who played Jan Hammond, 'Dirty' Den Watts' mistress in the soap - will portray Florence in the play, and Robert Hands will star as Celia's husband, William.

The cast is completed by Nathan Armarkwai-Laryea, Rebecca Cooper, Ewen Cummins, Christopher Ettridge, Simon Markey and Georgina Sutton.

The play is set in London in 1913, when the suffragette movement was at its height, and follows Celia, who serves time in prison for demonstrating for the right for women to vote.

While incarcerated, Celia meets young seamstress Eve, and her life spirals into chaos.

Lorna's former on-screen sister Jacqueline Jossa - who plays Lauren Branning in 'EastEnders' - recently admitted she burst into tears when she was told Abi would be killed off.

She said: "We knew one of us was going to die for a while, but not which one.

"That was hard to go through because as an actress you always want the door to be left open.

"People expected me to feel relieved, but I cried when I found out as I was so sad for Lorna."
