Although it is hoped that the ITV dating show will return to Majorca, producers are drawing up contingency plans to film in Jersey if travel is restricted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A source told The Sun: “After what we’ve endured over the last year they are taking nothing for granted.

"Their motto is: hope for the best, plan for the worst. Every eventuality has been addressed and planned for - including a third wave. But the general feeling is that Majorca is a go.”

ITV's Kevin Lygo has insisted that the show - presented by Laura Whitmore, 35 - will go ahead this summer and said a change of location would encourage producers to be more "inventive".

He explained: "You just have to adapt. When we did 'Big Brother' in the summer there would be days when they were all sunbathing out in the garden and then it rained a bit and they were all inside.

"You’ve got to have more heaters around the (outdoor) beds and producers have to be more inventive with tasks and games.”

Amber Gill, 23, and Greg O’Shea, 25, won the show in summer 2019 and it was axed last year due to the pandemic.
