The 25-year-old singer beat off the competition on 'Eurovision: You Decide', on BBC Two on Friday (27.01.17), with her performance of 'Never Give Up On You', to be chosen to represent the UK at the competition in Ukraine, in May and is hoping to win.

Speaking to BBC DJ Scott Mills, she said: "Oh god yeah, we have to give it a go, haven't we? Come on! You've got to go in with the positivity. It's a good song and the guys who are working on the creative side, you know, the staging and the lighting... They're second to none. They're amazing. So, we have to go in, hoping to win."

And Lucie admitted she was "floating on an excitement cloud" after being chosen to represent her country.

She said: "I'm very excited. I'm still shaking a little bit. I can't believe that people chose me. Representing the UK as a singer, that's so cool. I thought only sportspeople did that. It's such an honour [...] I'm floating on an excitement cloud. Someone needs to bring me back down to earth."

The song was co-written by Emmelie de Forest, the Danish singer-songwriter who won the song contest in 2013 and Lucie revealed that the song holds a special meaning for her but she has no plans to share the details.

She said: "It's different. It's a very stripped back performance. It's a very emotional song. I feel very on the edge [when] thinking about it. It's quite moving.

"I am thinking about particular things. I have a story for the song in my head. And it's very real. It's something that I will never share. It is something that I think that everyone who listens [...] takes in a different way. It means something different to each person. And I think that is really nice. I will encourage everyone else to find their own story within it."
