The 'Casualty' newcomer has an "open mind" about heading back to the BBC One soap one day to reprise her role as Nancy Carter, because she loved working with her on-screen parents Danny Dyer (Mick Carter) and Kellie Bright (Linda Carter) so much.

She said: "I have always said that I'd never say no.

"I loved everyone I worked with and Danny and Kellie are still there. I would definitely have an open mind about it - definitely.

"I am still very much in touch with the Carter family and I was hanging out with Himesh [Patel, who played Tamwar] last week as he was in Cardiff. I am very much still in touch with the cast."

Maddy took on the lead role in 'Imogen' at London's Globe Theatre when she departed Albert Square, and has admitted she was "really ready" to leave Walford for new ventures.

She added to Digital Spy: "I had been there for two and a half years, and I didn't leave it and go ,'Oh my God, what have I done?'

"I was really ready to go and do loads of theatre. I felt like I had a lot of pent-up live performance in me and I found it really fun getting back on stage. And then after that, I felt ready to go back on screen. It's been a very nice arc."

In the soap, Nancy and Tamwar flew the nest to travel the world, and the 28-year-old star - who plays paramedic Ruby Sparks in 'Casualty' - admitted she'd enjoyed a "wonderful time" on the programme.

Speaking in March 2016, she said: "It was time for Nancy to take a break from her family and me from 'EastEnders' after having a wonderful time working on the show.

"I was surrounded by a terrific team both on and off camera and I shall miss seeing them all on a daily basis, especially the fabulous Carter family."

Himesh added: "I'm looking forward to new challenges, perhaps on the stage or behind the camera. Whatever awaits me, I'll miss my family at 'EastEnders' immensely - they've watched me grow from boy to man and supported me every step of the way."
