The former 'The Only Way is Essex' star - who is married to actress Michelle Keegan - has suggested being "toned and healthy" is a good stimulate for a higher sex drive.

He told The Sun: “I know from friends and from myself how working out makes you smile and makes you feel good.

“If you’re feeling fit and you’ve got stamina, that helps your sex life. If you’re feeling toned and healthy, that will improve your sex life.

“I think having a healthy sex life is proven to help the mind and relieve stress. It all goes hand in hand.

“I can’t say you can’t have a good sex life if you don’t feel good in your body, but you’ll definitely have a better sex life if you do.”

The presenter, who has penned a lifestyle tome on mental wellbeing, played coy when asked about his sex life with his former 'Coronation Street' star spouse, but insisted his tips and tricks will transform couples' love-making sessions.

He said: “It’s a bit of an embarrassing conversation to have, isn’t it.

“But if you’ve never been into fitness or diet before, I promise you this book will change your life — and you’ll have a good sex life.”

Meanwhile, Mark previously shared how he got through tough days in lockdown - owing to the coronavirus pandemic - and used exercise to help him cope.

He said of his experiences: "I'm lucky enough to say I don't suffer from any serious mental health issues, although everybody - I believe, I hope it's not just me - will wake up and feel a bit down, a bit negative about life, even when there's no reason to. Lockdown brings that on more because there's more time to think, less time out of the house.

"I do worry for people who suffer from mental health issues in a more serious way and I hope things get better. What works for me is training."

Mark also appreciates nights in with his wife more.

He added: "I've used alcohol a lot more sensibly ... That'll definitely be a habit I take forward in life: the idea of smashing shots doesn't really appeal to me, but a lovely dinner with my wife and having a glass of wine appeals a lot more."
