The 61-year-old cartoonist, who is the mastermind behind the 'Simpsons', has reportedly teamed up with the popular internet streaming network to write a mystery programme, which is yet to be given a name, for later this year.

The media site reportedly wants the talented writer to create at least two seasons, both with 10 episodes each, after it was revealed the network is keen to create more original content for its viewers, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

However, details surrounding the collaboration have been kept tightly under wraps as a representative for Matt is yet to comment on the plans to join forces for a new series.

However, if the project goes ahead, the top-secret series will join Netflix's already-successful animated portfolio, which includes 'BoJack Horseman' and 'F Is for Family'.

Meanwhile, for now, Matt will continue his role as executive producer on Fox TV's 'The Simpsons', which is in its 27th season, until the hilarious sketch is brought to an end.

Apart from that, Matt has been pretty inactive since his show 'Futurama' came to an end in 2013, and has only made brief appearances in the comedy sketch show 'Portlandia'.
