The baking competition's former co-host left the programme, along with her presenting partner Sue Perkins and judge Mary Berry, when it made the move from BBC to Channel 4, and she hasn't kept up with the launch of the new series.

Appearing on 'The Jonathan Ross Show' on Saturday's episode (01.09.18), she insisted she doesn't regret her decision, and added: "No I haven't [watched it]. I feel bad!"

The 50-year-old star celebrated her latest milestone in June, and hit out at people who try to hide their age.

She said: "I don't like it when people lie about their age. I think if you're 50 you just ruddy say it. I am 50."

Mel is ready to embrace getting older, and revealed to Jonathan - in an interview which will air this weekend - her plans to "join in a commune" with her ageing friends.

She joked: "I've had a really brilliant idea, it came to me the other week. We are all getting older, I'm going to get all of my friends to join in a commune.

"We're going to sell our properties, live in a commune, hire some very hot carers and then all see each other out in a commune. Wouldn't that be fun!

"It's like shuffling off your mortal coil. Dying. To see each other out in your older years. Jonathan, you are very much warmly invited as well. It's the way forward. I'm talking about 20 years' time."

'The Jonathan Ross Show' airs on Saturday (01.09.18) at 9.15pm on ITV.
