The 30-year-old presenter jetted across the pond last weekend for his new showbiz reporter role on America's TV show 'Extra' but, despite fears their long-distance love will tear them apart, the couple are determined to make it work and the brunette beauty, 30, has reportedly "cleared her diary" after 'Our Girl' so that she can join the hunk Stateside for a few months.

A source told The Sun Online: "Once Michelle has finished filming 'Our Girl' at Christmas she's flying out to America to join Mark.

"She hasn't committed to any big projects after that to make sure she can stay for as long as she likes - she isn't 'moving there' per se but they will split their time equally between here and LA and she will jet back and forth as much as possible. The next few months will be tough as they'll be apart again but they've got a strong marriage and know they will make it work."

And Mark's sister Jess Wright, 31, feels sorry for the pair - who got married two years ago - because their relationship is constantly criticised by fans and subject to split speculation.

She explained: "He's moving away from his home comforts and his wife is in another country, I feel bad for him. I won't speak on their behalf but they have been apart for a long time and they're absolutely the same strong couple they always have been so I think that is a big testament and have clearly proved everyone wrong. They'll make it work no matter what."

Meanwhile, it's not yet known how long the heartthrob will spend in the US but his family are planning to go out at visit him a few times during his stint and are so proud of him.

Jess told BANG Showbiz: "It's very hard, he's going for a while, we don't know how long for at the minute and it's really difficult, everyone was quite tearful at the airport especially Mark and my mum. It was hard but he's not going off to the army, I can image that would be much more difficult for families. He's going off to the city of dreams - I'll definitely be going out."
