The 54-year-old star first appeared on the ITV daytime panel show when it debuted 20 years ago, and she admitted despite clashes the ladies are able to set their differences aside because of their long-lasting friendships.

Appearing on ITV's 'Lorraine' on Thursday (07.11.19), she said: "We do, we have disagreements - we have ferocious ones sometimes.

"But isn't tht the amazing thing about female friendship? That you can talk about everything - and this is friendships that have lasted over 20 years.

"Sometimes we'll have really heated debates and people will be like, 'Oh my God, how was that afterwards in the break?' We literally forget it, we move on! So yeah, it's brilliant!"

The former soap star also opened up about how she initially turned down repeated offers to join the show when it launched in 1999.

Eventually, she was won over by former ITV daytime chief Helen Warner, and she's grateful for the experiences over the past two decades.

She added: "I remember that when I went to the audition Kaye Adams was there and Jane Moore, and I thought 'Oh blimey, they're all a bit posh, they're all a bit clever'. They were reading The Times, you know.

"And so Helen Warner offered me the job and three times I turned it down. I'd just come out of 'EastEnders', I thought 'I won't be able to do that, I'll be rubbish'.

"She kept insisting - thank God she did, because I love this so much,I've loved it over all these years I've come in and come out of it. My favourite thing in the whole world is talking to other women."
