The 2015 'Great British Bake-Off' winner has admitted that at times she will only have one main meal in a day, at 5pm when she cooks for her three children, and doesn't feel the need to gorge on food later in the day.

She said: "On a day when I'm not working, I only have one meal a day so I'll drink tea, coffee and have fruit.

"I wait for my kids to come home, cook and then I have dinner with them at 5pm. I don't really need anything after that."

The 33-year-old TV chef has admitted, however, that when filming her new BBC Two show 'Nadiya's Family Favourites', she is not quite as healthy, and cannot resist snacking on "rubbish" at times.

She said: "It's really hard because when you are on location and you are shooting, you don't do a long day's work and think, 'Oh I've got to have a salad because that'll pick me up.'

"It's like, 'No, I want sugar, I want carbs and I want a quick fix.' There's no such thing as eating well, you eat rubbish to keep going."

The star has also stated that she likes to go on 5km walks so she can clear her head while listening to the sound of her footsteps.

Nadiya is quoted by the Daily Mail newspaper as saying: "I go for walks, that's my thing. If I've got an opportunity I'll find a gap.

"Even if it's midday and the kids are around I'm like 'I'm off' and they just know she's off, she just needs a bit of breathing space. And I just go off, I don't listen to music. I love listening to the sound of my feet. I like the steps and I just go for a walk."

In May, Nadiya quit the 'Big Family Cooking Showdown' to focus on her own venture.

She said at the time: "I really enjoyed presenting, but I'm now focusing on getting back to my own love of cooking for my new series... I wish the team the very best."
