The 36-year-old TV star admitted to not being a fan of the calorific treat, despite baking them on the hit show, which she won in 2015.

She said: “I don’t eat much cake. I don’t eat cake because I don’t really like cake that much. I think [it's] because I bake so much.

“I taste it, so when I’m tasting recipes I know what I like and what I don’t like. But as for sitting down with a whole slice of cake, I don’t do it often.”

However, she is partial to a bit of crumble or "a good pie".

The mother-of-three told 'Paul McKenna's Positivity Podcast’: “I’ll have a crumble - I love a good crumble, love a good pie.

“But give me a samosa. I’ll happily have a samosa."

While not being a huge cake fan, Nadiya was tasked with making Queen Elizabeth a triple tier cake for her 90th birthday in 2016, a year after she took home the crown on 'Bake Off'.

In 2020, Nadiya was awarded an MBE for her services to broadcasting and the culinary arts.

In March, the author spoke about the importance she and her husband Abdal place on making a “happy home” for themselves and their children, sons Musa and Dawud, and their daughter Maryam.

She said: "The time we spend together is so important for us to create a happy home for our kids.

"That means spending time together without the children and that is so valuable.

"I've definitely learned that this time around and that's quite nice because I still quite like my husband which isn't that bad, I think that's pretty good."
