This morning (November 9), Netflix have ramped up the promotional machine for their upcoming third season of Narcos, which will tell a whole new story following the conclusion of the first two seasons. Subtitled Mexico, viewers will explore the origins of the modern drug war by going back to its roots, to a time when the trafficking world in Mexico was disorganised and packed full of independent growers and dealers.

Ahead of next week's big premiere, the streaming service have released another first look clip from the batch of new episodes, which showcases some new footage and promises the show will deliver on the backdrop of the chaotic drug war origins. Check it out below:

Diego Luna stars as Félix Gallardo in the new season; a man who takes charge of the Guadalajara Cartel in the 1980s and unifies traffickers in an attempt to build an empire. One man is standing in his way however - DEA agent Kiki Camarena, played by Michael Peña.

Camarena moves his wife and young son from California to Guadalajara to take on his new position, but quickly learns that his latest assignment is one that will be more challenging than anything he's faced before, and incredibly dangerous. Gathering intel on his target, he becomes a part of a huge web in which tragic events unfold, affecting the drug trade as well as the war against it for years to come.

Narcos: Mexico launches globally exclusive to Netflix on Friday, November 16, 2018.
