Unsolved Mysteries returns later this month (October 2020) with six new chilling cases that will be explored over a batch of new episodes, in what Netflix are touting as Volume 2. This week, the first trailer for the next mysteries was unveiled, revealing some of the spooky and chilling tales audiences should expect when it makes its return. You can watch it for yourself below:

Those who enjoy paranormal retellings will be excited to hear that one of the episodes in this new season is dedicated to the earthquake and tsunami that devastated Japan in 2011. Locals there believe spirits haunt the area in search of their families; it's sure to be a riveting watch.

Then there are of course some cases that have gone cold, with the families and friends of the victims still searching for answers many years after the events that took their loved ones away. They include the mysterious death of a former White House aid who was killed by "force blunt trauma", as well as the supposed suicide of a possible spy and, the disappearance of two young boys who were kidnapped in New York.

"Somebody out there knows something", ends the new teaser. Those who this strike a chord with can send a tip to the show's producers using the Unsolved Mysteries website - unsolved.com/tips.

As was the case with the first season, Volume 2 of the show will not feature a host, despite them being fronted by the late Robert Stack in the series' older episodes.

This is likely the right decision by the streaming platform; a host isn't necessary to bring out the drama of each story. Instead, allowing those directly involved with each case to explain the details from their point of view elevates the audience experience. It also gives Netflix the opportunity to sit back and not take a side, instead allowing viewers to draw their own conclusions.

Unsolved Mysteries Volume 2 comes to Netflix on Friday, October 19th, 2020. The first six episodes are available to watch now, exclusively on the streaming service.
