Netflix have this week unveiled the official trailer and premiere date for new original drama series, The OA.

Launching this coming Friday, the series comes from show creators Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij and is made up from eight mind-bending chapters. Beginning with a missing blind girl in her 20s named Prairie Johnson (Brit Marling), we follow Johnson's journey as she returns to the community she grew up in, her sight mysteriously restored.

Whilst some say she's a miracle, others find her to be a dangerous mystery, but despite all of the rumours and talks around town, Prairie refuses to talk about her seven years missing with those close to her including her parents, and the FBI.

Marling stars in the show with Batmanglij directing all episodes. Other members of the cast include Emory Cohen, Scott Wilson, Phyllis Smith, Jason Isaacs, Alice Krige, Patrick Gibson, Brendon Meyer, Ian Alexander and Brandon Pere.

Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner and Sarah Esberg from Plan B, along with Michael Sugar from Anonymous Content are executive producers on the show, alongside Marling and Batmanglij.

The OA premieres all eight episodes on Friday, December 16.
