Netflix have this week revealed that their new Netflix original series Sacred Games – based on the critically-acclaimed best-selling novel of the same name by Vikram Chandra – will be coming to the streaming service on July 6, 2018. The date was announced on social media with a teaser video, which you can now watch below:

Though the lives of “a policeman, a criminal overlord, a Bollywood film star, politicians, cultists, spies, and terrorists” may seem a million years away from one another, they’re all set to intertwine in Sacred Games, as cataclysmic events begin to take place amongst the chaos taking place in modern-day Mumbai.

Focusing on Sartaj Singh, the series will see the seasoned yet cynical Bombay police officer summoned one morning by an anonymous tip that promises him an opportunity to put away the powerful Ganesh Gaitonde (criminal overlord of the G-Company) for good.

Of course, not all is as it seems, and with both Sartaj and his prey being part of a bigger game they didn’t even know existed, they soon come to realise that that they’re embroiled in an event that could change the world forever.

Saif Ali Khan stars in the leading role of Sartaj, opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui as the villainous Ganesh Gaitonde. Radhika Apte has also been announced as a cast member, but no details have yet been given surrounding the role she’ll be taking on.

Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane will be directing the series, with Anna Garduno and Kerry Williamson serving as co-executive producers.

Sacred Games is the first Indian series to be ordered by Netflix, and should make a big impression upon its debut on July 6, 2018. We can’t wait to tune in!
