Crime dramas are frequent visitors to our TVs, with more and more to chose from every year. However, Sky Original Wolfe will be one to set itself from the others.

Yesterday (August 6th, 2021), Sky released a first look trailer for upcoming crime drama, Wolfe. The series is a dark-humoured, grizzly and razor-sharp forensic crime show written and created by Paul Abbott.

Wolfe, starring Babou Ceesay in the titular role, appears to be fun and brand-new way to look at a crime scene. The series does not shy away from blood and gore, and digs deep into the gruesome world of forensic psychology. This makes the show really stand out; even the trailer is covered in blood.

The show will be filled to the brim with life-or-death situations, unique crime scenes and intriguing discoveries, which only add to the impressive energy, atmosphere and clever wit, bringing this series up above any other crime series.

The trailer shows our main character at a number of crime scenes, in which he is both repulsed and interested by, and we are shown his team, who work exceptionally hard and are shown to be experts at what they do.

Wolfe seems to be a genuinely lovely character; his demeanour is almost comical, with a hint of seriousness and authority about him, suggesting that he can be a laugh when the time is right, but work comes first at all times.

As with many protagonists, Wolfe seems to be one for bending the rules, but he will always have his reasons.

The show will span six episodes, and each one will see Wolfe and his team check out new and compelling locations, where they will have to piece together a puzzle that is their investigation.

They will come in contact with exploding vehicles and buildings, and even bodies that don’t stay in once piece. The team will do whatever it takes to get to the truth and unveil the reality of the crimes they are tasked with.

Wolfe’s presence on the team means that he will be seeing things through bipolar lenses, and applying his scientific brain to every single case he works on; while this seems to work for him on the job, his home life might be suffering as a result.

Ceesay is joined by an ensemble cast including Amanda Abbington (Sherlock), Natalia Tena (Game of Thrones), Adam Long (The Bay), Naomi Yang (Chimerica), Talitha Wing (Alex Rider), Shaniqua Okwok (Small Axe) and Christine Tremarco (Little Boy Blue).

All episodes of Wolfe will be streaming on Sky Max and NOW from Friday September 10th, 2021.
